1. INTRODUCTION
South West France Holiday Gites is serious about protecting the privacy of our Users. This privacy policy describes how and why we obtain, store and process data which can identify our Users.
2. INFORMATION COLLECTION
a) The information we collect from our Users is clearly set out on the web page on which we collect it. The information includes but is not limited to name, email address, postal address and telephone number.
b) We also collect the Internet Protocol (IP) address and Cookie information of our Users.
c) We do not store credit card numbers of our Users.
d) Owners provide information of their properties that they list on our pages. This property information, including but not limited to the property address, is available to the public and can be viewed by any user as it serves to the purpose of advertising the property.
3. INFORMATION USAGE
We collect information about our Users so that we can provide and promote the Websites, customize the Website to the individual needs of our Users, support and assist our Users in using the Websites, improve the Websites and contact the Users with important Website updates and to send messages that are integral to the service we provide on the Websites.
4. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
a) We do not share contact details of our Users with third parties if we do not have the Users consent to share that information.
b) We have business partners, including but not limited to tracking companies to analyze the Website visit of our Users for our own statistical use, advertising companies to serve ads when Users visit the Websites and payment processing companies to process payments of our Users. These business partners may use information of our Users and may place or recognize a unique cookie on our Users browser. Our privacy policy does not apply to these business partners.
c) In certain circumstances we may need to disclose information about our Users if they breach this privacy policy or if they breach the Terms and Conditions. We may also disclose or access our Users accounts as a response to subpoenas, court orders, any legitimate request by authorities with which we must comply or legally process.
d) We may transfer information about our Users if we acquire, or we are acquired by or merged with, another company.
e) Information collected from our Users may be stored and processed in the UK and EU, and by using the Websites, our Users acknowledge and agree that they may be transferring their personal data outside of the country in which they have contributed it, and that they consent to any such transfer of information outside of their country. 5. INQUIRIES
a) Users may send booking inquiries to Owners via a contact form on the listing pages. If the User chooses to send an enquiry through these links, his/her/it personal information, including e-mail address and telephone number will be visible to the recipient so that the Owner can reply to the him/her/it. The User should not share information in the booking inquiry that he/she/it is not prepared to allow the Owner to have, including, but not limited to, credit card and bank account information.
b) Once a User makes an inquiry, the name, e-mail address, telephone numbers provided by the Owner is automatically sent via e-mail to the inquirer.
c) Inquiries are also retained by us. The content of these inquiries is not shared with any third party, but we may use third party e-mail servers to send and track receipt of the inquiry e-mails.
6. NEWSLETTER
Users will only receive a newsletter from us if we have their consent. Users may cancel their subscription to these newsletters at any time in their Users account.
7. SECURITY
Keeping information about our Users secure is very important to us and we take reasonable steps to protect our Users information. Nevertheless, please note that no data transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be totally secure. As a result, whilst we strive to protect our Users information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information which they send to us, and the Users do so at their own risk.

If Users request it, Users can view and edit the information we have about them at any time.

Avoid Vacation Rental Scams
No scam incidents have been reported so far to South West France Holiday Gites. While every property listed with us has undergone a strict and thorough screening process, we cannot guarantee that our directory is 100% scam-free.
To check the legitimacy of a vacation rental property before making a payment we recommend you to do ALL of the following:
* NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
* ALWAYS SPEAK TO THE OWNER ON THE TELEPHONE
* Call-up the number of the owner provided in the e-mail we send you after each booking inquiry you make.
* Test the owner by asking in-depth questions about the rental and compare the his answers to the listing (e.g. "how far is it from ...?" or "how is the kitchen equipped?")
* If you keep on getting an answering machine: ask for the owner to call you back and say you will not pay until you speak to him.
* If for whatever reason, you do not feel comfortable with the owner, do not make any payment.
* TAKE TRAVEL INSURANCE - take an extra precaution and find out whether your travel insurance will cover your vacation rental cost
* FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
* NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, etc.)
* AVOID DEALS INVOLVING ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.
* South West France Holiday Gites IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"
